#FASHUN – CRUSHIN’ ON CORD

Cord either throws me back to the early 2000’s where I’d be strutting into my school non uniform day in my finest cord trousers or reminds of my dads cord bootcuts. There’s no in-between. But Cord has made a cheeky reappearance this AW and I have to say… I’m here for it! Here’s my current staple Cord pieces in my wardrobe!

THE H&M CO-ORD

I LOVE a co-ord more than anything, and this H&M duo was my payday treat to myself. Well, H&M accidentally priced the skirt to £12 online one day so I managed to snatch that at a reduced price but the jacket I had to treat myself to. You can’t have one without the other right? The material is such a nice quality it’s a really well made piece, AND it’s actually really warm! Making it the perfect trans-seasonal outfit.

THE CORD PUFFER

Behave, I know I really need to clean my mirror but this is the only photo I have in this jacket! I took it home up north with me because it’s SO warm, it literally feels like I’m wearing a duvet. If we want to get all practical n that, the elasticated waist is super helpful cause it stops the wind getting in and making you cold… exciting stuff.

THE WIDE LEG TROUSER

These are the steal of the season… £12 in H&M Sale!! They fit like an absolute dream too, perfectly high waisted and the perfect length. Well, when I say they fit like a dream, get a size up one or two dress sizes. We all know that H&M is the only place you can be a size 6 to 16 in one day, I had to get these in size 12. They’re the same lovely material as the blue cord co-ord so I’m chuffed I got these for £12, always check out different H&M sale areas as I find they have different stock in Sale and sometimes different prices!

#GETTHELOOK – HOW I EDIT MY INSTAGRAM PHOTOS

I always get asked what filters I use for my Insta photos, I honestly have quite a long process as I edit everything on separate apps, I never use actual Instagram filters. I thought I’d share my editing process, this may produce a few eye rolls but I like my profile to have a bit of an aesthetic to it and I need something to do on the tube to and from work!

LIGHTING

Usually I literally take about 80 photos before I’ve settled on one I like, I am such a perfectionist. Honestly, it’s all down to lighting. You can not take a good photo in bad lighting. The worst type of lighting is light that comes from above, this is why we all look horrendous in Topshop changing rooms. Light that comes above creates shadows on your face, not cute for those eye bags! The best lighting is light that comes directly at you, which is why the new H&M changing rooms are the best for selfies. Personally, the best lighting is natural lighting which is why I usually take all of my selfies in front of a window.

FLAT LAYS

Flat lays are the trickiest photos to take, I think you’ve got to have a really good eye for composition and angles. They’re always best taken from birds eye view but getting that spot on is quite hard. All my flat lays are taken in square mode, it helps with the composition. If you add a grid onto your camera/cropping mode where the 4 lines cross each other, they should sit on key areas of your photo. The human eye is naturally drawn to those 4 areas so this will create focal points for your photo. You can also use those lines a guide to lay out your props.

HOW I EDIT

I use 2 apps to edit my photos, FaceTune and VSCO Cam. FaceTune you usually have to pay for but I’ve got a free version from the app store, VSCO is also free but you can buy extra filters. They do offers all the time so you can build up a collection easily, the only filter I use is HB1 from the HYPEBEAST pack.

Firstly, I go into FaceTune and whiten the whole background on my image, this just makes it look better with the filter. Then I use the Glow feature to go over my outfit/key parts of the image, it just enhances the colours in the image and makes it look a bit more high res.

Then I load the photo into VSCO and add my filter, I never have the full filter on the image, usually on a 6 or a 9. Then I sharpen the image to a 3. If needed, i’ll adjust the exposure but only to a 1.

Then FINALLY it’s ready for the gram! Yep, it’s a longer process than most people but it literally takes me 2 minutes to do I’ve done it so many times. Other good apps to edit photos on are Afterlight, Square Ready and Snapseed.

#LIFE – I’M NOW ON YOUTUBE/BERLIN TRIP

SO I finally attempted to start up my YouTube channel, with a vlog from Berlin! The Paris one WILL be on its way soon I just can’t seem to get my head around editing just yet. I’m so nervous for it to go up, its far from perfect and very obviously a first attempt. I don’t understand how I’ve managed to set up my own site and learnt to HTML my way through it but I just can’t get my head around YouTube… its so much harder than I thought!

My camera actually died so this doesn’t show everything from my trip, but you get the jist of it all. I also don’t think my camera is very good with film, I have a Fuji X100 or something which is amazing for photos but for film I think I need something Sony or Canon based, suggestions below please!

So alongside the vlog I thought I’d share some photos from my trip, I thought I took so many more but I evidently didn’t.

#FASHUN – LFW SOPHIA WEBSTER

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

After being struck down with a 24/48hr sickness bug over the weekend, my body conveniently sorted itself out in time for the Sophia Webster presentation at LFW today. I am an avid lover of Sophia Webster and her designs, more so as she is an alumni and my university and her little baby girl is called Bibi.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetI wore my Topshop embroidered denim combo with some fish net tights and my Sophia Webster Bibi low top trainers, obviously the baby pink Gucci belt made an appearance too.

The location was at the Vinyl factory in Soho. You had to enter through a vinyl record shop which had an amazing aspect of a real life Narnia experience. When you wandered down the grungy stairs you were greeted with a snow cone of your choice, I opted for watermelon flavour obvs.

There was fake snow everywhere, which for once felt weird as London seemed to be experiencing some kind of heatwave today. A giant snow globe consisting of 2 models in the most incredible thigh highs was what we first laid out eyes on.

Shoes were displayed on dripping ice podiums and bars. “I scream for ice queens” hung on the wall in neon.

We then walked round the corner to more gorgeous models in highly embellished crowns and jewels and butterfly shoes on ice podiums. It was basically Frozen but for the older customer, I was in my element. Instead of ‘let it go’ playing we had Dj Emerald playing some sassy RnB.

These shoes I literally can’t even deal, I think they have over 4 thousand diamonds on them ?!

These light up boots gave me life “hot like fire / cold like ace”
