#HAUL – FRENCH PHARMACY LUVIN

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

So for New Year myself and my boyfriend went on a dreamy 5 day trip to Paris. The best part may of possibly been 2 days in Disneyland. It was amazing I had the best time! Whilst I was there obviously I had to check out every Sephora in sight and I’ve found a new appreciation for French pharmacies.

Sephora EU isn’t as amazing as what I imagine the US ones to be, I just topped up on their own brand face masks as I absolutely love them. They had an Anastasia Beverley Hills counter however only the brow and contour products were in stock, all the glow kits and eye shadow palettes were sold out. They also had a Huda Beauty counter but you had to queue up, it was 2 people at a time only so the queue was so slow! I’m not that fussed about the lip collection, none of the shades are really suited to me. I would of had a swatch but you even had to queue to just swatch!

I’d read good things about French pharmacies as apparently they’re loved by make up artists and models during Paris Fashion Week… here’s what I picked up…

Bioderma Micellar Water

Similar to the Garnier one, except this is the original. I double checked the ingredients and they’re not similar so I decided to give this one a try. It’s deffo a bit tougher at removing make up than the Garnier, I think I actually prefer it. I bought the bottle which has the pump on which pumps the product straight onto your cotton pad. After I take my make up off, I then was my face and then swipe this across my face to make sure extra dirt is picked up. You can buy it in the UK here. Just as it’s a french product, it’s cheaper in France!

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré

This baffles me because it was 10€ in France and here in the UK its £20-£22! When I first saw it I was a bit taken a back as it had like 3 functions, a make up primer/moisturiser/face mask/make up remover ?? Like how can a primer and a remover be the same thing? Anyway, I bought it and because of the cold in Paris my face was so dry I decided to use it as a night time moisturiser first. In the morning my skin was 100% moisturised and just felt like it had a bit more life to it and elasticity.  I don’t think i’ll be using it as a make up remover, but it does actually do well at being a primer. However, I just use it when my skin needs a hydrating pick me up.  I’ll definitely be stocking up on this when I go back to Paris in April. However, you can purchase it on Feel Unique here.

Homeoplasmine

This is quite hard to get ahold of in the UK. I bought it for 6€ but BeautyMart sell it for £14 however it sells out asap. It works as a lip balm for chapped lips, and apparently as an alternative to Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream? I haven’t tried it on my entire face yet, but it does deffo work wonders on your lips, it has a matte finish so you can easily apply lipstick on top.

Avène Thermal Water Spray

This one isn’t the most exclusive buy as you can get ahold of the full French brand in Boots. I remember my mum using their products and I’d heard great things about this spray so thought I should try it. It’s really good at calming irritations and redness, I’m not sure if I’d repurchase as its not like essential if you like? You can try it for yourself here.

My skincare routine has updated slightly, let me know if you want to see an updated post!

#HAUL – BLACK FRIDAY TREATS

Okay this is like a mix of Black Friday treats and just repurchasing things I needed! FeelUnique.com had some amazing offers over the 3 days, Selfridges had 10% off beauty and MAC had freebies when you spend over £40 online. Here’s what I picked up.

SELFRIDGES

10% off beauty isn’t a lot but it doesn’t happen often so best to make the most of it when it happens! It still amazes me that they only offer up to 10% when cosmetics are the money maker for luxury brands because they’re so cheap to produce therefore so profitable. They can deffo afford to give us 20% off!

Anyway I picked up a new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation as I hadn’t repurchased mine since it ran out and I couldn’t find anything else that I LOVED as much because I remember fully raving about it. I also copped the concealer to match as I’d seen it on my social media. I have such good memories of this foundation and I remember loving it but this time around I just don’t like it as much? I don’t know why, it just isn’t sitting on my face right. If I do a full heavy face of make up it works well but when I try to do a natural day at uni look it just doesn’t blend and sits on my face weirdly? I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been using the Boujous foundation mixed with the YSL one I’ve just got used to the texture of it. The concealer, I haven’t used it enough times yet as the lady gave me the total wrong shade (I asked for a shade lighter and got a strong 2 shades darker) so I had to go back and exchange it. I’ve recently been blending my concealer with a brush and not a beauty blender but this concealer I can tell will look better with a beauty blender not a brush.

FEEL UNIQUE

I ran out of my gorgeous Kerestase shampoo and then moved flat so just didn’t have time to pick up a new one so I’ve been using L’Oréal for the past 2 months and my hair hates me for it. I didn’t realise how nice Kerestase was until I stopped using it. L’Oréal is absolutely rammed full of sulphites and nastys and I could just feel them clogging up in my hair. After once wash of Kerestase my hair feels BEAUT.

I also got a new Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser and Cocoa Brown Tough Scrub. I’d just ran out and needed these both!

MAC

So Mac brought back their discontinued whisper of guilt highlighter for their holiday collection! I saw this in Mac Carnaby street and it was in stock but I just didn’t think at all to buy it! Then next thing I knew it was sold out everywhere. Even when I went to Rome I tried Stanstead airport and the 2 MACs in Rome but still had NO luck. I just kept refreshing the website twice a day everyday to see when it would come back in stock. I managed to grab it straight away! I haven’t even tried it yet as I’ve been waiting for a day to do a full face of glam. But for £29 you get a highlight and blush compact and I think that’s pretty well priced.

I saw they had a new lipstick called ‘Strip Me Down’ and both my friend and me thought it was to match stripdown the lip liner so I bought it to make my shopping basket £40 so I could get a free liquid liner. It’s deffo a lot warmer than stripdown it’s kind of simailr to Twig too. I’m not sure how to describe it really.

So free with my order I got 2 free mascara samples and a full size black liquid liner. I remember this eyeliner being amazing so I can’t wait to use it!

So that’s pretty much my payday beauty treats 💋

#FAVES – JUNE & JULY

I didn’t do a favourites for June just because there wasn’t really anything I was truly like WOW about. So thought I’d do a combined one instead!

SLEEK I DIVINE PALETTE

Okay, I don’t actually mean the whole palette, there’s just this one shade which is absolute holy grail! The bottom right cooper shade is just absolutely to die for. All the other shades are good but this one is in a league of its own. This month I’ve loved copper shades because they really bring out the blue in my eyes. I just use my favourite base colour MAC – Malt, and a few of my usual shades from theBalm Voyage pallete and then pat this copper shade onto my kid with my finger. It’s so beaut.

Bought from Boots here.

KYLIE COSMETICS METAL MATTE

I bought this in the shade Reign and I mean despite the fact it arrived less than half empty (see Instagram) it’s actually the coolest colour. Whenever I wear this I get so many compliments. Obviously it doesn’t last as long as her liquid mattes do, but it really does stay on well. The only negative, also besides it arriving empty, is that the applicator is awful and makes it harder for you to apply smoothly on your lip. But the colour is banging. I know that NYX have really good metallic dupes so I’m going to give those a try instead of purchasing more of the Kylie metals as they’re so god damn expensive.

MAC MINERIZLE POWDER

I used to use this when I was a die hard MAC gurl and then when off it when I started using other brands. But I was sorting out my make up and forgot I had it so started using it again and forgot how amazing it was as an everyday powder. During this absolute mega heatwave it really has helped keep my make up on and covered up my blemishes. I use this in shade Medium.

Bought from MAC here.

GERAD COSMETICS LIPGLOSS

Another one I forgot about! Jaclyn Hill used to rave about these when she started doing YouTube and I bought them but wasn’t really a gloss kinda gal at the time. Since trying the Kylie Cosmetics ones and just not really feeling it I decided to give these a go and really forgot how good they were! I can use them without any colour underneath cause the pigment is great, and they really have a nice shine to them. However, they are sticky so watch your hair.

Bought from Beauty Bay here.

#HAUL – SEPHORA

IMG_0342.JPG

I recently went to Gran Canaria (blog post to follow) and OBVI finding Sephora was at the top of my list. Here’s the d-low on my purchases:

Sephora Blurring Effect Primer: This primer is SO good, I was never a believer in primers until I started using this. It smooths out the skin and creates an even surface. It’s perfect for those with spots or acne.

Sephora 12 Hour Eye Primer:  I bought this because I was desperate for a new eye primer and didn’t want to splurge on Urban Decay. It does the job, it’s no Urban Decay though.

Sephora Creamy Concealer: Intrigued by the wand as it’s the same style as the Urban Decay Naked concealer. A good dupe.

Sephora Lip Liners: I double up on these whenever I purchase because they’re so small. They’re so creamy and easy to blend with so many lipsticks. If you like MAC lip liners which are a bit more hard and pencil like, then avoid these.

Sephora Pomegranate Face Mask: These masks are like sheets which you place over your face for approx 15 minutes. They’re so great if your skin needs a quick refresh before applying make up or going to bed.

Sephora Pomegranate Eye Mask: I get really dry skin around my eyes which if left untreated leads to horrific eczema. When I see the symptoms coming, I use one of these for approx 20 minutes to refresh and moisturise my eyes. Works a treat.

Sleek Contour Duo (Light & Dark): Tbh I probably could of just bought these in the UK. Gorgeous colours for a mix of skin tones. You can use these as blushers, bronzers, contour powders, eyeshadows and highlighters. I need to purchase the Medium palette.

Marc Jacobs The Face 3: Right, I am 100% not the type of person to spend £37 on a foundation brush. Full review on this to follow…

Two Faced Melted Chocolate Liquid Lipstick: I bought one of these a few months back and love it. They’re really good at moisturising my lips too! They smell amazing, the chocolate ones legit smell of chocolate too. The applicator gets a bit rank after a while though. I think when these first came out they were great, but the formula could do with improving to help keep up with competitors.

Sephora Illuminating Foundation: I think I just need to dedicate a whole blog post to this foundation. It’s amazing. Fully rate it.

Sephora Colour Correct Highlighting Pen: Bit average, didn’t really need this tbh. I was just intrigued.

Sephora Lipstick: This is the third time I’ve gone into Sephora and bought the same shade of lipstick by accident. This shade (I think is called ingenious) is a great dupe of my fave MAC Viva Glam 2.
