#FASHUN – CRUSHIN’ ON CORD

69A06651-399F-4C29-8ADF-B2EBA2248596.JPG

Cord either throws me back to the early 2000’s where I’d be strutting into my school non uniform day in my finest cord trousers or reminds of my dads cord bootcuts. There’s no in-between. But Cord has made a cheeky reappearance this AW and I have to say… I’m here for it! Here’s my current staple Cord pieces in my wardrobe!

THE H&M CO-ORD

I LOVE a co-ord more than anything, and this H&M duo was my payday treat to myself. Well, H&M accidentally priced the skirt to £12 online one day so I managed to snatch that at a reduced price but the jacket I had to treat myself to. You can’t have one without the other right? The material is such a nice quality it’s a really well made piece, AND it’s actually really warm! Making it the perfect trans-seasonal outfit.

THE CORD PUFFER

Behave, I know I really need to clean my mirror but this is the only photo I have in this jacket! I took it home up north with me because it’s SO warm, it literally feels like I’m wearing a duvet. If we want to get all practical n that, the elasticated waist is super helpful cause it stops the wind getting in and making you cold… exciting stuff.

THE WIDE LEG TROUSER

These are the steal of the season… £12 in H&M Sale!! They fit like an absolute dream too, perfectly high waisted and the perfect length. Well, when I say they fit like a dream, get a size up one or two dress sizes. We all know that H&M is the only place you can be a size 6 to 16 in one day, I had to get these in size 12. They’re the same lovely material as the blue cord co-ord so I’m chuffed I got these for £12, always check out different H&M sale areas as I find they have different stock in Sale and sometimes different prices!

#GETTHELOOK- FISHNET DEETS

I am LOVING this trend of wearing fishnet tights under ripped jeans etc, yessssss kimmy k thank you for this inspo! I bought mine for £8 from Topshop but they’re just going in and out of stock, like why not just try get them from a sex shop instead?

I wore mine under ripped mom jeans from Topshop, the rips over time have exaggerated from wear which I kind of prefer cause they look more like a natural tear. I paired them with my & Other Stories boots so you could see the fishnet detail not only on the knee but on my ankles also.

I then wore them with my unripped mom jeans, but paired with a crop top so you could see the top of the tights and waistband, totally kimmy k style. I wore stan smiths just to keep it casual 🙋🏼 how do you wear yours?

#TRIED’N’TESTED – STYLIST LIVE

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetAs I’m a member of the Stylist Beauty Council I very kindly got 2 tickets to Stylist Live! This was my second year going as I also went last year.

So the concept of the day is that you book yourself onto 1 workshop, 1 talk and 1 catwalk show. By the time I got round to doing this the workshops I wanted were fully booked so I just decided to do a talk and the catwalk show. As I went the year before I had a rough idea about what the catwalk would be like. I booked myself onto a trend forecasting talk as my current unit at uni is based on forecasting. One of the guest speakers was from WGSN (major global forecasting site) which was really interesting. I learnt a lot from the talk but some of it was what I learn at uni, plus the audience could do a Q&A at the end which I enjoyed as it broadened the topic.

The catwalk is built up of 5 trends for A/W all of which are high street looks you can buy now. In my personal opinion, it’s just naff. I’d much rather a edit which you can actually shop at the event built up of some personal shoppers and stylists to help you find the look which is best for you. However the main thing which I disliked about the catwalk show, was that in the trend talk the fashion editor talked about tailoring everything for the Stylist reader. Now, this should of been filtered onto the catwalk show. The Stylist reader isn’t all a size 6 tall skinny early 20’s female. It would be much more exciting if we had a range of body sizes up on the catwalk to reflect the range of readers. You can say the same for all fashion shows I know, but Stylist is that magazine you get for free on the tube to read in on your commute and really reaches out to the reader.

In between all of this, the business design centre is built up of pop up stalls. Clarins and Urban Decay having the biggest floor space. I wanted to see more exclusive discounts. Liz Earle only had 10% off which was a bit disappointing, you can get better on Feel Unique! It needs to be a lot more hands on, a lot of the brands are small businesses trying to sell product to you which kinda got annoying. I want to be able to learn about these new brands and get an experience. For example, Urban Decay was just like going into Debenhams… where as at an event like this they should be doing master classes, prize giveaways, discounts etc. Like really open up to the customer and promote themselves. This is something that Clarins did well, they had makeovers, back massages, neck massages and hand massages going on. Plus there should be a lot of variety of brands, I saw too many Pinterest inspired greetings cards, old news.

This is a really fun day out or something to do post work, it doesn’t last the whole day, only about 3 hours I’d say? So if you travel from outside London it’s nice to go and get food and cocktails afterwards and really make a day of it I’d day.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

So my overall opinion is, great girly day and something different to do. It needs to be less money making orientated and more hands on and part of an experience. Plus add some body shapes to that catwalk! Look at what the Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry and Topshop Unique are doing and have the catwalk edit ready to shop afterwards.

#FAVES – AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

As I spent half of August moving house, I lived on a small selection of beauty products from my make up bag so my glam looked the same everyday. And then I went on a make up ban… which obvs didn’t really last that long. So I’ve combined the 2 months together for my favourites post.

Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation

Apparently this has some form of NASA technology in it? But it’s the first foundation that I’ve used that provides buildable coverage on my face but without feeling like I’m actually wearing anything on my face. I use the Morphe M442 to apply this, which is the first duo fibre brush I’ve used to apply foundation and I loveeee it. I’m not sure if the Saint Laurent foundation will beat the Too Faced Born This Way one, however this is a great alternative for oily skin.

Makeup Geek

I’m unsure after watching Jaclyn Hill on YouTube for years I’ve never tried Makeup Geek shadows. They are better than MAC, but for a fraction of the price. My personal faves are, Frappe, Beaches and Cream and Creme Brulee. The pigment is amazing, they have little kickback and they just blend like the ultimate dream. They come in a pan form, so I just bought an empty Morphe palette to put them in. This is THE worst photo to show as my poor palette is battered but it shows how much I use it. Plus I dropped it on the floor and smashed one of my foiled shadows waaaahhh.

Hoola Bronzer

I literally have NO idea why it took me YEARS to try this???? It’s AMAZING. This bronzer is the perfect in between of ashy and warm tan. It’s just perfect for every skin tone, everyone needs this in their makeup bag. Plus its fab for a gentle contour.

Welda Lavender Bath Milk

Since I moved into my new house and it has a bath (yay) I can now buy bath bombs from lush and relax. Lavender relaxes me so much so I knew I wanted a bath product with lavender in, I chose Welda because of the organicness of the brand. I didn’t way any harsh chemicals on my skin. I put about 3 cap fulls of this in my bath and I couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt afterwards it was dreamy. After a shit day, this works a treat. Use wisely and don’t fall asleep in the bath.

#FASHUN – ALL ABOUT THE CELINE TRIO

This is hands down, THE best purchase of 2016.

So this bag has a great story behind it, and it absolutely was an impulsive buy, no regrets though. Never.

So, after finishing 2nd year of uni after an absolute disaster of a term but still getting decent grades, and then going straight into working full time I was debating buying myself a designer bag as a present to myself. I didn’t think I’d actually do it though, I just like browsing Selfridges online too much. So, my friend and I were in Islington and thought we would have a look in this new shop called Handbag Clinic, as I knew they’d opened one in Newcastle as some friends of mine work there. So the shop was like a little boutique of handbags, the two girls inside were SOOO lovely and helpful with great knowledge of the bags, one of them was from Newcastle so we were chatting on to them for ages. Yasmin and I were just browsing the bags and there were Chanels, Louis’s and Pradas all pre owned and some in amazing condition and some you could tell had been worn. I was waving my finger past the bags literally saying the words ‘…I want something which is like… A bit of me… Like THAT and stopped at this gorgeous Celine Trio. But I was just amazed at the condition of the bag! The lady working told me that a lot of their customer is Chelsea based and will only buy a bag and wear it once type of thing. The bag was immaculate, it honestly looked brand new. I quickly googled the bag and it was on the Céline website for £740, but in the handbag clinic for £450. Obviously I know this is a LOT of money to spend on a bag, but the bag was in new grade A condition but with £300 knocked off the price tag, like that is an offer I just couldn’t refuse. Obvi  you got the Céline dust bag with it too.

I didn’t realise that each part of the bag is attached with press studs and can be taken off and used as a clutch bag. So you kinda get a bit of 3 bags in one.

I started to think about the fact that yeah I had worked hard so why not treat myself, OBVI this lead to me then buying the bag. I legit have no regrets, like after purchasing I felt like an absolute girl BOSS. The feeling of buying something big and thinking ‘yeah I deserved that’ is so nice. I honestly think we should all treat ourselves more.

Handbag Clinic also have an online website too, I recommend checking it out and have a browse at what they have to offer. Some bags you can tell have obviously been used, some more than others, but a lot of them are in amazing condition! It is Handbag ‘Clinic’ so they do repair and restore designer bags, absolute life savour! You can also purchase protection kits to protect your designer bags from dirt and stains and even red wine stains!

Outfit deets:

Literally everything from Topshop, the sleeveless biker is last season and the sunnies are from ASOS. Style of jeans is MOM jean.

#FASHUN – MULE LOVIN

I was going to post this as my summer shoe, but then I realised summer is nearly over now… Yeah that 4 day heatwave and that be it. However, this is a great transitional seasonal shoe, especially as in London we get a warm September (soz if ur reading this n ur up north). I never used to be a mule kinda gal, to the point where I bought a gorgeous dusty pink pair from Topshop over a year ago and haven’t worn them once. However I saw these in Topshop and couldn’t decide between black or silver, sure black will go with more but silver is a bit more fasHUN. Since purchasing these, I’ve discovered so many more mules which I’m loving, I’m trying to stop myself from purchasing. Here I’ve rounded up my top 5.

#HAUL – PAYDAY PURCHASES

I did a big Beauty Bay order when I got paid and it was the best order I’ve ever place. I also bought some bits from Beauty Mart and believe it or not, Amazon too.

Let’s start with the Makeup Geek shadows as I just don’t understand why it took me so long to try Makeup Geek?! These shadows are just tooooo good I can’t get over how good they are. I bought Beaches & Cream, Peach Smoothie, Coco Bear, Frappe, Peach Melba, Cherry Cola and 2 foiled ones which I can’t remember but you can see on the photo. I bought a Morphe palette to pop them in just cause I preferred this to the Z Palettes. The shadows are just so pigmented its crazy, if these were £15 a piece I would still fully justify buying them. The foiled ones are incredible. I usually spray Mac Fix+ onto my brush first but for these you don’t even need to do that. I’m 100% buying more next payday.

Bought from Beauty Bay here

Okay so I bought another morphe palette, I probably didn’t need it but I did. I really think everyone should own at least one morphe palette as there such amazing value. I went for the 35K as I needed a really smokey palette and this was a perf alternative to the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette. Once again the pigment just exceeds itself and the foiled shadows are in a league of their own. The empty palette is also perfect for pan eyeshadows, my Makeup Geek shadows fit in perfectly.

Bought from Beauty Bay here and the empty palette here.

Milani blush was next on my list as I saw these in a Jaclyn Hill video waaaay back. I couldn’t decide what shade to do so I went for romantic rose as it was vegan even though I’m not vegan lol. I was just curious to see how vegan make up was as I’ve never used it knowingly! Such a gorgeous everyday blush which goes on well, I think I’m going to buy more of these as you get so much product for your money.

Bought from Beauty Bay here.

I added a Gerad Cosmetics lippy to my basket and I’m unsure why, I think I was just going CRAY cause it’s cheap and I thought I was Jaclyn Hill. It’s nice but nothing major.

Bought from Beauty Bay here.

I HAD to try the EX1 foundation as people are going so mad for it I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I bought it in shades 100 and 300 as I tan a lot so needed to vary and mix up my shade when needed. However I wish I got 200 and 100 as 300 is actually really dark, well darker than I expected. EX1 is based around olive skin tones and the Arab women love it. But it just really reminds me of MAC Studio Fix Fluid, but for half the price. It has good days and bad days, if you know then you know. The texture is pretty similar too. I’ll still reach for it on my days off work but I do think the Too Faced Born This Way has my heart.

Bought from BeautyMart here.

I’m starting to get into the Korean skincare hype. BeautyMart were selling the TONY MOLY face masks and I was just intrigued by the randomness of the ingredients, like red wine face mask???? But for £6 a shot I was like nah. I found them on amazon, yes Amazon, for £11 for 11 masks (basically the whole set). So I popped them in my basket. I haven’t tried all of them yet but I don’t think I like them more than the Sephora ones. The pore control broke me out into really bad acne again, which some things do then it clears up but a week later and the spots aren’t shifting. However he radiance ones are nice. Cute for a pamper night.

Bought from Amazon here.

#TRIED’N’TESTED – NYX MATTE LIP CREAM

After trying purchasing the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit I thought I’d try these NYX matte lip creams to compare as they’re only £5.

I ordered 2 shades, Athens and Stockholm. Athens from ASOS and Stockholm from Feel Unique. Being honest though, I don’t think I’m going to bother buying make up from ASOS again. A friend of mine purchased a NYX Mascara and it arrived all dried up as if it had been opened. It wasn’t until my lip cream from Feel Unique arrived did I realise how dried up my ASOS lip cream was. I don’t know if it’s cause it’s old stock they want rid of or what? Weird.

In the pictures the shades looked slightly different but when they arrived I realised how similar they were! Athens has more of a peachy under tone to it than Stockholm. They can be blended with so many different nude lip liners and brands to create a block colour or ombré effect on the lip.

On the lips they feel creamy and slightly moisturising. I always apply my NYX Lip Primer underneath to create a base and keep the product on longer. The pigment isn’t as good as the Kylie Lip Kit, if you apply a second layer you get slight streaks on your lips. But what I love about these is that they’re the perfect affordable everyday lippy. They do have a soft creamy texture which feels lightweight on the lips and doesn’t dry your lips out at all.

(Left ATHENS right STOCKHOLM)

Since writing this I’ve purchased more, London and Abu Dhabi (both nudes) and Copenhagen (deep burgundy colour). London is my absolute favourite and I think it might be my perfect go to nude! Copenhagen is nice but it really doesn’t suit my skin tone, it would look beaut on a darker skin tone.

These are cheap and cheerful and an absolute bargain! Perfect to keep in your handbag of desk at work for a pop of colour on your lips.
