#GETHELOOK – HALLOWEEN’17

I have to admit I’m rubbish with Halloween, I hate the site of blood to the point where all the fake gory looks freak me out. I could never dress up scary. I think when I was younger I was a witch every year, and then year before last I was a cat… original. You get my vibe though, I don’t do ‘proper’ Halloween. This year I went for a mermaid vibe, my actual outfit was half hearted I just really wanted my makeup to stand out. It was quite tedious to do, I practised 3 times during the week and spent about 2-3 hours getting ready. I really took my time because I didn’t want to rush and mess up.

PREP

As I was putting so much eyeshadow/glitter glue/glitter on my face it was key that I prepped my skin, whenever I’m going out I use this mask from Selfridges. Honestly it’s amazing. For me it tightens my pores, soothes and brightens my skin, and for some reason when I have a photo taken with flash my skin looks SO flawless like it’s been FaceTuned. I left this on for about 30 minutes whilst I did my hair, then let the residue soak into my skin for 10 minutes before washing my face with water and patting it dry.

HAIR

I did 2 braids at the top of my head and secured them with mini clear hair ties. I used a selection of glitter in the middle and either side of the braids. For this is recommend thick glitter like Gypsy Shrine otherwise thin glitter looks a bit like dandruff. Just spray some hair spray onto the area, add the glitter then spray some more to secure it. To curl my hair I used a bubble barrel ended curling tong, mine is a Mark Hill one from Boots from about 5 years ago but the updated Pick n Mix one is here. This type of barrel is perfect because no 2 curls are the same, I took small sections of my hair about 5cm-10cm wide and wrapped them round the barrel for 10 seconds and made my way around my head. Once done I sprayed my hair with hair spray and let the style sit for about an hour before running my fingers through my hair to create loose waves.

EYES

I started with my eyes first, I always do eye makeup first because if you get any fall out from shadow you can just wipe it away, plus as I was using such bright colours it would of been a hot mess if I did foundation first.  I started by priming my eyes with Urban Decay eyeshadow primer, this stuff keeps everything in place I can’t live without it. For eyshadow I used a mix of the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette and the NYX Multi Finish Eye Palette in Electric. I started by using a nude transition shade under the brow/on the crease and then started lightly and built up with the pink from the NYX palette. Then with a slightly smaller brush than before, I used the purple from Jaclyn’s palette and did the same but slightly below where I had placed the pink. Continuing with the purple using a smaller brush I applied more shadow in the inner corner and outer corner to create the halo eye effect. In the centre of the lid I placed some eyeshadow primer to act as a base and applied the turquoise shade from Jaclyns palette on top. Then do make that pop some more I used this NYX glitter on top. To keep glitter on the eye I use eyelash glue, any brand will do! I applied Pinky Goat lashes right at the end of the whole look. Under the eye I took the pink and smoked it under the eye and then used the purple on top. For inner corner and brow bone highlight I used this beaut holographic eyeshadow from Topshop which looks white but catches a purple/blue undertone in the light.

FACE

I primed using Too Faced Hangover Primer and as always used my NYX Dark Circle concealer in shade Medium to colour correct my under eye dark circles. For foundation I used the L’Oreal Pro Glow foundation which I bought in America but you can’t get it in the UK??!!! I am so mad about this because it’s THE perfect foundation, so if anyone is going to America anytime soon can you bring me back about 5 of these?? Thanks. Concealer as always is my trusty Maybelline Fit Me and I ever so slightly did some contour to bronze up my face a bit using the Tartiest Pro Glow palette. As I was going to apply so many bright colours to my face I didn’t want bronzer/contour to make the shades ashy. I set my face and under eyes with the Laura Mercier setting powder and then with the NYX Matte setting spray.

THE MERMAID SCALES

The big question is…. how on earth did I get the scales?! It’s so mad, I simply just put a pair of fishnet tights over my head and packed the eyeshadow on top, as you do. I used micro fishnets as they’re the perfect size to create the scale effect, anything larger would of been way too big. Using the same shades that I used for my eyes, I used sponge wedges to pat the eyeshadow onto my face starting with the purple. I wanted a purple & turquoise on the cheeks which blended into pink and purple on the temples/forehead. Dabbing some Barry M Glitter Gel on to the areas where I wanted glitter applied, I sprinkled a mix of Barry M glitter and NYX glitter over those areas. Trust this is messy, you’re gonna need a dustpan and brush.

Then to finish off I used my fave Maybelline Brow Drama eyebrow gel to shape my brows and on the lips MAC Lip Liner in Edge to Edge and lipstick in Saint Germain.

#HAUL – BLACK FRIDAY TREATS

Okay this is like a mix of Black Friday treats and just repurchasing things I needed! FeelUnique.com had some amazing offers over the 3 days, Selfridges had 10% off beauty and MAC had freebies when you spend over £40 online. Here’s what I picked up.

SELFRIDGES

10% off beauty isn’t a lot but it doesn’t happen often so best to make the most of it when it happens! It still amazes me that they only offer up to 10% when cosmetics are the money maker for luxury brands because they’re so cheap to produce therefore so profitable. They can deffo afford to give us 20% off!

Anyway I picked up a new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation as I hadn’t repurchased mine since it ran out and I couldn’t find anything else that I LOVED as much because I remember fully raving about it. I also copped the concealer to match as I’d seen it on my social media. I have such good memories of this foundation and I remember loving it but this time around I just don’t like it as much? I don’t know why, it just isn’t sitting on my face right. If I do a full heavy face of make up it works well but when I try to do a natural day at uni look it just doesn’t blend and sits on my face weirdly? I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been using the Boujous foundation mixed with the YSL one I’ve just got used to the texture of it. The concealer, I haven’t used it enough times yet as the lady gave me the total wrong shade (I asked for a shade lighter and got a strong 2 shades darker) so I had to go back and exchange it. I’ve recently been blending my concealer with a brush and not a beauty blender but this concealer I can tell will look better with a beauty blender not a brush.

FEEL UNIQUE

I ran out of my gorgeous Kerestase shampoo and then moved flat so just didn’t have time to pick up a new one so I’ve been using L’Oréal for the past 2 months and my hair hates me for it. I didn’t realise how nice Kerestase was until I stopped using it. L’Oréal is absolutely rammed full of sulphites and nastys and I could just feel them clogging up in my hair. After once wash of Kerestase my hair feels BEAUT.

I also got a new Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser and Cocoa Brown Tough Scrub. I’d just ran out and needed these both!

MAC

So Mac brought back their discontinued whisper of guilt highlighter for their holiday collection! I saw this in Mac Carnaby street and it was in stock but I just didn’t think at all to buy it! Then next thing I knew it was sold out everywhere. Even when I went to Rome I tried Stanstead airport and the 2 MACs in Rome but still had NO luck. I just kept refreshing the website twice a day everyday to see when it would come back in stock. I managed to grab it straight away! I haven’t even tried it yet as I’ve been waiting for a day to do a full face of glam. But for £29 you get a highlight and blush compact and I think that’s pretty well priced.

I saw they had a new lipstick called ‘Strip Me Down’ and both my friend and me thought it was to match stripdown the lip liner so I bought it to make my shopping basket £40 so I could get a free liquid liner. It’s deffo a lot warmer than stripdown it’s kind of simailr to Twig too. I’m not sure how to describe it really.

So free with my order I got 2 free mascara samples and a full size black liquid liner. I remember this eyeliner being amazing so I can’t wait to use it!

So that’s pretty much my payday beauty treats 💋

#HAUL – PAYDAY PURCHASES

I did a big Beauty Bay order when I got paid and it was the best order I’ve ever place. I also bought some bits from Beauty Mart and believe it or not, Amazon too.

Let’s start with the Makeup Geek shadows as I just don’t understand why it took me so long to try Makeup Geek?! These shadows are just tooooo good I can’t get over how good they are. I bought Beaches & Cream, Peach Smoothie, Coco Bear, Frappe, Peach Melba, Cherry Cola and 2 foiled ones which I can’t remember but you can see on the photo. I bought a Morphe palette to pop them in just cause I preferred this to the Z Palettes. The shadows are just so pigmented its crazy, if these were £15 a piece I would still fully justify buying them. The foiled ones are incredible. I usually spray Mac Fix+ onto my brush first but for these you don’t even need to do that. I’m 100% buying more next payday.

Bought from Beauty Bay here

Okay so I bought another morphe palette, I probably didn’t need it but I did. I really think everyone should own at least one morphe palette as there such amazing value. I went for the 35K as I needed a really smokey palette and this was a perf alternative to the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette. Once again the pigment just exceeds itself and the foiled shadows are in a league of their own. The empty palette is also perfect for pan eyeshadows, my Makeup Geek shadows fit in perfectly.

Bought from Beauty Bay here and the empty palette here.

Milani blush was next on my list as I saw these in a Jaclyn Hill video waaaay back. I couldn’t decide what shade to do so I went for romantic rose as it was vegan even though I’m not vegan lol. I was just curious to see how vegan make up was as I’ve never used it knowingly! Such a gorgeous everyday blush which goes on well, I think I’m going to buy more of these as you get so much product for your money.

Bought from Beauty Bay here.

I added a Gerad Cosmetics lippy to my basket and I’m unsure why, I think I was just going CRAY cause it’s cheap and I thought I was Jaclyn Hill. It’s nice but nothing major.

Bought from Beauty Bay here.

I HAD to try the EX1 foundation as people are going so mad for it I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I bought it in shades 100 and 300 as I tan a lot so needed to vary and mix up my shade when needed. However I wish I got 200 and 100 as 300 is actually really dark, well darker than I expected. EX1 is based around olive skin tones and the Arab women love it. But it just really reminds me of MAC Studio Fix Fluid, but for half the price. It has good days and bad days, if you know then you know. The texture is pretty similar too. I’ll still reach for it on my days off work but I do think the Too Faced Born This Way has my heart.

Bought from BeautyMart here.

I’m starting to get into the Korean skincare hype. BeautyMart were selling the TONY MOLY face masks and I was just intrigued by the randomness of the ingredients, like red wine face mask???? But for £6 a shot I was like nah. I found them on amazon, yes Amazon, for £11 for 11 masks (basically the whole set). So I popped them in my basket. I haven’t tried all of them yet but I don’t think I like them more than the Sephora ones. The pore control broke me out into really bad acne again, which some things do then it clears up but a week later and the spots aren’t shifting. However he radiance ones are nice. Cute for a pamper night.

Bought from Amazon here.

#TRIED’N’TESTED – KYLIE COSMETICS LIP GLOSSES

Kylie Jenner has our money, and she’s laughing her way to the bank.

Skip this if you’re a die hard Kylie Jenner fan or don’t care about the background story to these glosses.

SO, I actually ordered these way back in April when they were first released, I ordered 1x Literally and 2x So Cute. I only meant to get 1 So Cute but I accidentally managed to add another into my basket somehow. I don’t actually know where to start with this because everything seemed to go wrong. 2-ish weeks passed and my Lip Kit which I ordered after this, arrived before my glosses. I got a notification from Royal Mail saying that I had to pay customs on my order, can I just note that on the delivery tracker that Kylie Cosmetics give you, they mark your order as delivered when it’s not, so I had no idea where my order was for 2-3 days until I got a card through my letterbox from Royal Mail. You can’t get in contact with USPS (the shipping service) because it’s American and you need to fill out details before sending an email, tragic. After an hour of frantic googling, I learnt that orders got delivered by Royal Mail or Parcel Force when they enter the UK. So anyway, my customs charge was about £14, which I thought fair enough I’m ordering from America it was bound to happen.

My order arrived in the usual box, but only one lipgloss was there. I had a receipt enclosed for all 3 lip glosses and the sticker on the box stated that 3 items were inside. I’ve never been so frustrated that I’d paid for 3 lip glosses and £14 customs for one lip gloss. By the time this happened, Jeffree Star had Snapchatted his faulty lip glosses which he received from Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie had responded saying that she had addressed the problem of the faulty wands and her new batch will be improved, and everyone who ordered the first time round will get sent replacements. Read more here. So I thought ‘OK maybe the other 2 were faulty and they’re coming later’. OH HELL NO. I opened up Literally, and the wand was fucked, it looked like a mini toilet scrubber it was awful. There was no way I could apply lipgloss with  it.

I emailed Kylie Cosmetics customer services to complain about my missing 2 lip glosses and the faulty brush. 2 days later I received an email asking for order number and details (even though I included this in my original email), just to then receive and automated response about the faulty brushes being replaced later that week. I don’t know if it’s because in England we’re overly polite and customer service is so important or because you’re and A-List celeb and you can get away with shit customer service. It was SO frustrating and they just kept ignoring the fact that they didn’t send my full order, eventually all I received was ‘your new order is on it’s way’. No apology, nothing. At least they could of marked my order as a ‘gift’ so that I would’t have to pay custom charges, but oh no I had to pay another £14, so nearly £30 was spent on customs for 3 lip glosses.

So today, over 2 months since I ordered my lip glosses I finally have them. They didn’t even arrive in the usual box, they were just wrapped in black bubble wrap. I opened up the bubble wrap and inside was the 3 glosses, shoved into their packaging looking as if someone had already opened them before me.

(Left – First batch, Right – Second batch)

Okay so now about the actual glosses

The brush had 100% been improved since, thank god.

So Cute is much lighter than I thought, the formula is incredibly thick and it does go on patchy so I’d recommend wearing a lip stick under neath and outlining your lips with a slightly darker lip liner.

Literally is actually a really nice colour even worn alone. The pigment is stronger than So Cute and it’s also incredibly thick.

Overall, focusing on the product and not the brand, these glosses aren’t any different from elsewhere. They’re only ‘special’ because they have the Kylie name to them. You’re honestly just better sticking to MAC or even NYX. With approx £30 paid in customs for 3 lip glosses it makes each gloss worth £20. For a gloss? It’s a no from me, sorry Kylie. Stick to your lip kits and please improve your customer service.

#HAUL – PAYDAY PURCHASES

PAYDAY PAYDAY PAYDAY! It was a 5 week month and it was a struggle, but I did have a lil help from my student loan obvs. Usually on payday I go hard and then by Monday I’m completely broke again, but I was good this time round. I just bought some treats from Topshop.

Topshop Highlight in Crescent Moon

You know the amazing holy saviour glow pot from Topshop? Well this is it but now in powder form! YES BISHES. Super excited to try this. Also, glow pot is sold out (not discontinued according to some bloggers), it’s back in stock later this month. I work better with powders than I do creams so I was super excited when I saw this. If you LOVE highlight then this will look gorgeous when used with the glow pot.

DHC Moisture Strips

These are one of my favourite skincare products of all time. They went out of stock for about 3 months and when they came back in stock the other day I stocked up and bought 3 boxes so I never have to go without them again. When I was suffering withdraw symptoms from these, I used Sephroa eye masks which are also amazing. I prefer the DHC ones because they contain aloe vera and soy.

I suffer from eczema under my eyes when I’m stressed, but whenever I feel like my eyes are going a bit dry I pop one of these on overnight and in the morning my eyes are moisturised and the signs of eczema are gone.

Topshop Brow Gel

FINALLY! This product is just slightly over due. I’ve used Maybelline Brow Drama for about 2 years now and swear by it. When this came out I was so eager to try it, it comes in 2 shades and I went for the darker shade as I have dark statement brows and the lighter shade wouldn’t do much for them. Only thing I’m a bit unsure about is the brush size, it’s so small for my big brows!

Topshop Lip Contour Lip Liners

I don’t really know where to start with these really. They’re just the absolute shit. One thing that annoys me is that they’re called lip contour, like no let’s not complicate our contouring routine Im still trying to get my head around my cheekbones let alone lips. These are lip LINERS. Comparing them to MAC as per, they’re basically the cream stick liner, same texture, same mechanical pencil and same (if not better) pigment. But only priced at £6.50, amazing.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetThey come in 2 shades, Frame and Outline. Frame is the darker one out of the two, similar to Whirl/Spice/Deverish lip liners by MAC and Outline is on the same level as Honey Love… if it was to be a lip liner. Frame is also very very similar to Candy K from Kylie Jenner. Such a good dupe. Click here to read my review on the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit.

From top to bottom:

Koko K – Kylie Jenner, Frame – Topshop, Outline – Topshop and Candy K- Kylie Jenner.

#SKINCARE101 – MY NEW ROUTINE

If you read my post about my new skincare products from Lush, you’ll see what I tried ‘n’ tested. But about a month or so later my skin was just as spotty as what it was when I bought the products Although, I do love the Tea Tree Water, I do rate that. Just read that post and you’ll understand what I’m banging on about. So basically, nothing from lush really worked on my skin so I went on another search for perf skin… and here’s what I found.

Night Time Routine:

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser

This is holy grail best make up remover on the market RN. Removing make up is SO important. I NEVER use make up wipes, they’re an absolute no go for my skin. Some people can get away with them but they’re so bad for you, they just drag the make up around your face. I used The Ultimelt by Soap & Glory for about 3 years as a cheaper Liz Earle dupe but I had to use it twice to remove all of the make up from my face, probably didn’t help that I was wearing MAC Studio Fix Fluid all day either. I ran out of S&G and for some reason just didn’t bother repurchasing it as I think I was just bored of it. I used a Garnier cleanser for a while which was actually really good and moisturising but I just ended up going through cotton wool pads like there’s no tomorrow. My student loan had came in and I just thought, f*ck it I’m pushing the boat out and getting Liz Earle. For some reason I thought it was really expensive, but at £14 it was only £4 more than S&G and I ordered from Feel Unique so I had 20% student discount off it! It costs slightly more if you buy it with the muslin cloths, but I had loads from the S&G days so purchased without.

It removes my make up in one go and leaves my skin looking calm and refreshed, no mascara panda eyes or red irritated patches on my skin. Just make sure you thoroughly rinse the muslin cloth so you’re not trapping any dirt.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System

La Roche had been recommended to me by a few people and I’d noticed that in Boots they had a set targeted towards acne prone skin. I was just a bit reluctant to try it as me and face wash don’t get on and I was sceptical if the toner would be too harsh on my face. But I thought it would be better than going to the doctors and prescribing to acne medication, and for £33 plus 20% student discount I thought I would give it a go, and I’m SO glad I did. I  only use this as part of my night time skincare routine. I didn’t want to over clean my face and I wasn’t sure how the products would sit under my make up. I take my make up off with the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser, swipe over my face with Garnier Micellar Water and then shower. NEVER wash your face in the shower! In London especially. The power of the water is too hard on your face causing redness, and think about the temperature of your shower compared to washing your face.

Firstly I wash my face with the face wash, this was what I was sceptical about incase it ripped my face of natural oils causing spots and redness as my face is quite sensitive. It gently foams on your face and you can see the cleanliness straight away, it leaves your skin so soft, there’s no need to scrub with this product. I haven’t experienced any extra spots whatsoever from this, really rate it. I then follow with the toner which just helps remove any excess dirt off my face and tighten pores, you can kind of feel it tighten your skin after. Finally, I moisturise with the Effaclar Duo+. Just apply a thin layer on the face, you really don’t need a lot of this product. My skin feels baby bum smooth afterwards.

I’ve been using this for just over a week now and I just can’t express enough how much this works. I’m surprised that after a week I can see so much difference. My acne has visibly reduced and my skin is more even and smooth. I’m going to do a before and after review when I’ve been using this everyday for a month so you can see the difference.

Morning Routine:

Garnier Moisture Match – Ultra Hydrating

My friend used one of these when on holiday and really rated them, so I added the hydrating one to my basket on Feel Unique as it was only £2.49. When I opened it to test it on my hand, it had the same smoothing texture as my Sephora primer so I thought this would be perfect to use as my morning moisturiser under my make up. I usually use MAC Comfort Cream but was getting bored of it and it was so expensive for a moisturiser.

So in the morning I shower, then swipe a cotton wool pad of Garnier Micellar Water on my face, then again with Lush Tea Tree Water and then gently apply this moisturiser on my face and neck. I always wait a minimum of 5 minutes for my skin to absorb the moisturiser before I apply make up, so I go off and make breakfast or dry my hair in this time. If I apply make up straight away, I find that my foundation doesn’t sit right.

When I sat down to do my make up, I noticed that the moisturiser had given my face a blurring effect just like my primer usually does. So I thought I’d give my primer a miss and try this out. OMG, 10.30pm when I’d finished work, my make up was still in place. I got home and checked out the ingredients and realised that glycerin was the second ingredient. If you don’t know what glycerin (aka, glycerine or glycerol) is, It’s basically what sticks product to your face. Although, when I put it like that it sounds kinda grim. But anyway, even as a moisturiser this product is great. I don’t get any dry patches when wearing foundation and my skin looks glowy and moisturised. However, if you have oily skin I would avoid.

#GETTHELOOK – WERK 2 BRUNCH

Having worked in retail for nearly 4 years now, getting called into a last min shift is nothing new. I don’t mind though, help the team out n all that. This Sunday I was called in for a 7am start (fresh) and I had plans for brunch after. I needed a glam look which wouldn’t take long in the morning but actually looked like I’d made effort. Whenever I’m tired, I avoid heavy eye make up and it just emphasises and draws attention to my sleepy eyes. Plus, I always go by either doing bold eyes or a bold lip, don’t do both.

Face: I mixed MAC Strobe Cream with my Sephora foundation to give my face a glow to eliminate fatigue. Then went in with Topshop Bronzer, NYX Contour Palette and Becca Highlighter.

Eyes: I used a fluffy blending brush to dust shades from the NYX Contour Palette over my eye to lightly contour the eye. Touched up with Maybelline Mascara and Brow Gel on the brows.

Lips: Dark lipsticks suit me much more now that I’ve died my hair back brown. I used a Topshop Lip Liner and Matte Lip Bullet. A great dupe of Diva from MAC.

Hair: I curled my hair the night before with a wand and then when I woke up the next day the curls had dropped out into a beachy look, I restyled it slightly in the morning with sea salt spray.

Outfit: I literally just went for my black Jamie jeans, Topshop Boutique grey vest and a leather jacket. Finished the look with my Saint Laurent scarf, you can get a Topshop dupe here.

For brunch I went to Bills on Wellington Street. V nice but Breakfast Club will always be my fave.

#TRIED’N’TESTED – KYLIE JENNER LIP KIT

After many failed attempts, I fiinnallyy managed to purchase a Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in Candy K. I bought my lip kit through Kylie’s website. I’ll admit it though, I do have her app and I found out there about restock times and dates. There are fan accounts on Instagram and Twitter which post about restock times just incase you don’t fancy paying that £2.99 a month. Great glam tutorials though.

The site does crash so you have to be prepared. I was out for drinks when the restock went live and I used mine and my friends phone to get onto the site. I fully recommend using more than one device to get through to the website. I ignored all messages telling me to ‘wait in line’ or ‘don’t refresh the page’ and my order still went straight through to checkout. The whole order process is so tedious, I don’t understand why Kylie didn’t just open this up as a concession in Sephora or Selfridges etc. Hats off to her though she knows how to create a hype.

The lip kit including delivery cost £32. Which to be fair I think is quite reasonable considering you get a lip liner and lipstick which is similar to what you would pay in MAC. Luckily I didn’t receive  any customs charges either. The order took just over 2 weeks to arrive, if it got stopped at customs it would of probably taken about 3 weeks.

I wish you could buy the lip liners separately as I fully rate them. They’re thick, pigmented and creamy unlike MAC pencil liners. This did surprise me as we all know Kylie used MAC Stripdown liner on her lips, so I thought she would of gone for a similar formula. They glide on to the lips really well and you can start up lightly and build it up for a deeper colour.

The liquid lipstick I was a bit sceptical about at first as I heard they were really drying and mattes always make my lips incredibly dry the next day. However, this is a weird one. My lips feel slightly dry when I’m wearing it, because it really is sooo matte your lips have a weird texture to them. For example, when you wear a matte by MAC (I know I keep comparing this to MAC) you can still feel a creamy texture. Where as with this it’s just almost like sandpaper. The strangest thing is, it actually doesn’t dry your lips out one bit. It legit baffles me. I do have slightly cracked lips and the product does settle in the lines making my lips look dryer than they actually are.

Candy K was darker than I thought it would be, for some reason I was expecting it to be like MAC Honey Love but it’s more of a darker MAC Viva Glam 2.

I did have to reapply this through the the day, however when you reapply make sure you take all of the product off your lips and fully reapply. I’d recommend carrying make up wipes with you as this lipstick does not budge off easily! If you make a mistake or smudge when applying you’re gonna have a bit of a mare as its not something you can just wipe off with your finger. Take your time applying!

The only criticism I have to the lip kit is about the design. The liquid lipstick doesn’t have a stopper (like you know when you take your lipgloss out and it makes that pop sound, yeah well like there’s basically no pop sound) which means your brush gets product all over it and if you knock the tube over it spills out.

Would I repurchase? Other colours – yes. This same shade – probably not. This looks like it’ll last a while anyway and by the time I come to repurchase there will most likely be so many other cheaper alternatives on the market.

#FULLYRATE – NYX COSMETICS

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

I’d heard about NYX on YouTube, and it wasn’t until my friend bought their liquid matte lipsticks did I realise the brand had launched in the UK. I’ve seen a lot of coverage on their Instagram about launching in Boots, but I still haven’t seen them in a Boots in London?! I bought some product from ASOS so I could use my student discount, but the majority of the good stuff is sold out. Therefore I bought some more in Selfridges as they have a pretty large and well stocked concession space which seems to be expanding.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Powder Highlight & Contour Palette: I’ve used the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette for a few months now and if I’m honest I thought it was good, but not as amazing as everyones makes it out to be. I find the colours quite hard to blend out. There’s so much competition right now with contour palettes to the point where I don’t think you really need the Anastasia Beverly Hills one anymore to slay. The NYX palette had been doing the rounds on YouTube and it’s so cheap I thought I might as well try it. Well, I FULLY RATE IT. With 4 contour shades you can get a really good match to your skin tone. If you’re a contour beginner then I’d recommend you this, it blends out so easily. The highlights I’m not really fussed about however they have NAILED the dupe of banana. Available at FeelUnique.com.

Lip Primer Base: Never seen the point in lip primers as I thought there’s no way they could work. I added this to my basket as it’s cheap and if it doesn’t work then at least I tried it. I was proven so wrong! This makes such a difference, especially with matte lipstick! It definitely helped keep my lipstick on for an extra 2 hours or so. It’s a large pencil with a slightly tinted creamy formula which is available in 2 shades. Purchase at FeelUnique.com.

Wonder Stick: In Paris my friend introduced me to this. She’s the kinda gal who doesn’t want to faff on with a whole palette just to get some cheekbones. She just drew 2 lines under her cheekbones and blended with a damp beauty blender, and then built up if necessary. Then used the highlight end to highlight her face. It was such a quick and easy way to contour. I bought mine in the shade ‘universal’ which is formulated for various skin tones. My skin tone changes weekly depending on how much fake tan I wear so this shade is perfect for me as I can build up the contour when needed. Available from Selfridges.

HD Primer: This works perfectly under my Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation! Both are formulated for your skin to look flawless on camera. I only wear these when I’m going on a night out or to somewhere where I know there’s going to be lots of pictures taken. However when using products like this, remember that your setting powder has to be HD based also, otherwise you will loose the HD effect. Available from ASOS.

Mineral Stick Foundation: Recently I’ve been LOVING foundations and I’ve never used a stick based foundation before so I’m eager to try. It was quite thick and creamy when I tested it on my arm, I feel like it might blend well with my Marc Jacobs brush. You can purchase this at FeelUnique.com.

Lip Liner: Super creamy texture similar to the Sephora ones. The pigment is AMAZING and they do great dupes of MAC shades. Purchased from Selfridges.

Full Coverage Concealer: This is very thick and I’m not planning to use it under my eyes! I’ve been on the lookout for a thick concealer to help hide the acne on my face. I know spots are textures on the face and you can still see them, but I have a lot of scaring that needs covering up. Available at ASOS.

Wonder Pencil: This caught my eye because it’s a gorgeous nude shade that would look beaut in the waterline of a brown smokey eye. It seems like it’s quite a multi purpose product that could be used to highlight under the brow or in the inner corner. Purchase this from FeelUnique.com.

#TRIED’N’TESTED – MARC JACOBS THE FACE 3

100% I am not the kind of gal who spends £37 on a make up brush, no way, but I did. When I was in Sephora this caught my eye and it felt amazing, it’s so thick and dense I thought it would be perfect for buffing and blending foundation. It’s also quite a big brush so I assumed the coverage would be on point.

Tbh I didn’t think a make up brush could bring so much disappointment. I use a very lightweight foundation and build it up to create coverage, I felt like this brush took away about 60% of my product and I was having to do 6 layers of foundation. It also made my foundation appear matte, it took away that glow and made my skin appear dull. However, I did use it with my Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation which is slightly thicker than my Sephora one, and I found that it did work slightly better with a thicker texture.

I’ve used the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush for nearly 2 years now. I bought it for about £16 on Amazon and I’ve never looked back. It builds up product so well on the face for any type of textured foundation. As soon as I used the Marc Jacobs brush I felt myself reaching for my Sigma brush instead. Honestly guys, I fully rate the Sigma one. Major regrets going on between me and my bank balance RN.
